What is a PT PMA ?
A PT PMA (Foreign Investment Limited Liability Company) is an Indonesian legal entity whose shares are wholly or partially owned by foreign individuals or foreign legal entities to carry out business activities in Indonesia.
Who can establish a PT PMA ?
A PT PMA can be established by :

  1. Foreign nationals
  2. Foreign legal entities
  3. A joint venture between foreign investors and Indonesian individuals or entities"
Can a PT PMA hire foreign workers ?

Yes. A PT PMA may hire foreign workers for specific positions and expertise, provided it obtains the required permits such as the Expatriate Placement Plan (RPTKA) and Work Permit (IMTA).

How long is a KITAS valid for?
Depending on the type, KITAS is valid for 6 to 24 months and renewable
Can a foreigner apply for a KITAS without a local sponsor?

A sponsor is usually required (employer or Indonesian spouse), but Investor KITAS can use your own PMA company as sponsor

What is a KITAP and who is eligible?

KITAP is a permanent stay permit valid for 5 years. It's granted to foreigners who have lived in Indonesia long-term, such as KITAS holders (after multiple extensions), Indonesian spouses, or senior investors

What is the process for stay permit application?

MIXED MARRIAGE DOCUMENTATION

Can the foreign spouse obtain a residence permit after marriage?
Yes. After the marriage is registered, the foreign spouse may apply for a Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) sponsored by their Indonesian spouse.
Where can the marriage be performed and registered?
The marriage can be performed at a religious office (KUA for Muslims) or at a place of worship for other religions, then registered at the Civil Registry Office (DUKCAPIL) to obtain an official marriage certificate
Is the marriage recognized internationally?

Yes, once registered with DUKCAPIL and an official marriage certificate is issued, the marriage is recognized by many countries. However, it is recommended to legalize the certificate through the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the foreign embassy involved.

DRIVING LICENSE ASSISTANCE

Do foreign nationals need an Indonesian driver’s license (SIM)?
Yes, if a foreign national wishes to drive legally in Indonesia, they are required to obtain an Indonesian Driver’s License (SIM) — either SIM A for cars or SIM C for motorcycles, depending on the vehicle type.
Is an International Driving Permit (IDP) valid in Indonesia?
An International Driving Permit (IDP) is valid for up to 3 months after arrival. If the foreigner intends to stay longer, they must apply for an Indonesian driver’s license.
Is there a driving test required?

"Yes. Generally, foreigners must complete: Theory test (written or computerized) and Driving practice test. However, foreigners with a valid foreign or international license may be exempted from tests, depending on local regulations."
